Having spent the last few days on the slow, still, straight waters of the Middle Levels, we squeeze into Salters Lode lock (and I do mean squeeze - there was about half an inch to spare) and ...... |

........we slowly emerge on to the Ouse on an ebbing tide for our short journey to Denver Sluice. We make our way out carefully and............... |

............turn left. Well, nearly. We then decide we really don't want to go to sea, so turn right and head upstream!! |

First sight of Denver is a little scary as we're not exactly sure which bit is the lock - but we eventually drive in and....... |

.........emerge into the tranquil waters of the Ely Ouse, none the worse for the experience. |

We decided to moor up and explore Denver Windmill which still makes flour. It was a long, very hot walk but worth it.

Imagine having to walk around that on a windy day to ajust the set of the sails!! |
The whole top of the mill turns on this machinery.

And the flour makes WONDERFUL bread!! |
