Harecastle Tunnel |
||
We have to fit below the hanging white chains to fit through the tunnel. |
It's only wide enough for single file traffic, so we wait until we are told to go in!! Alan peers quizzically at the tunnel entrance, wondering how much its roof has sunk since we last went through and how much will have to come down from the roof of the boat.
|
![]() Well, he obviously made it! |
The garden stayed mostly on the roof, but the bike had to ride on the foredeck. |
It's a great deal clearer than the last time we went through - you can see to the end (over a mile away) The white mark in front of the boat is where the roof gets lower - Alan spent much of the time crouching down to avoid losing his head. |
![]() That's reassuring - chains to pull yourself out if you break down - easy, only about half a mile to go!! |
|
Safely emerging from the other end - missing the chains by miles. Look at the wonderful brown water here - not pollution but iron. |
