And straight afterwards comes the tunnel. This is where the flow of the canal (see 18th October) becomes a real problem. With the width of the water reduced to just over that of the width of the boat, and autumnal leaves collecting around the prop, B-Hive was only just making headway through the tunnel. Indeed, we heard of more than one boat where the crew resorted to pulling it through with a rope!! |
