Hurleston Locks.

Here begins the Llangollen branch of the Shropshire Union.

Llangollen Canal

The mound to the left of the locks is a reservoir - which is fed by the whole canal, causing a very noticeable flow from Llangollen down. This was to prove rather interesting later on!!

One of the many lift bridges.

Some are electric, some use a windlass but the simplest just have a chain to pull!!

Grindley Brook - a staircase of three locks.

It's amazing how many people don't read the instructions and consequently have water pouring down the towpath!!

Interesting turn when coming from the direction of the bridge!! We were too long to turn in directly and had to go further up the cut, turn in a winding hole and come back!

Entrance to the small length of the Whitchurch Arm which has been restored.
