Hurleston Locks. Here begins the Llangollen branch of the Shropshire Union. |
Llangollen Canal
The mound to the left of the locks is a reservoir - which is fed by the whole canal, causing a very noticeable flow from Llangollen down. This was to prove rather interesting later on!!

![]() One of the many lift bridges. Some are electric, some use a windlass but the simplest just have a chain to pull!! |
|
Grindley Brook - a staircase of three locks. It's amazing how many people don't read the instructions and consequently have water pouring down the towpath!!
|
![]() It does look a long way up from here!! |
Interesting turn when coming from the direction of the bridge!! We were too long to turn in directly and had to go further up the cut, turn in a winding hole and come back! |
Entrance to the small length of the Whitchurch Arm which has been restored.
