The boat on the right was totally hand built!! We locked through with them for a bit and had quite a chat. Alan then raided his engine room stores for "an odd bit of hose" to help mend/maintain their cooling system. |
A good place to make friends and play...

The morning mist was beautiful to look at but we were glad it soon dispersed.

Note the motorway sized signs directing you to the lock (this is Stoke Bardolph) just in case you don't spot the weir.

Of course, once you're through this lock (Cromwell) and on to the tidal Trent it's a whole different story.

Actually, it has to be admitted, it wasn't too bad, and the weather was kind, but we both concentrated hard on following the chart particularly on the way down as it was a lowish tide and there were large sandbanks both sides. |
with the anchor stowed ready for use should it be needed. (it wasn't).

there was a lot more water on the way back up.

We had to wait for a long time to get into the lock at Torksey until there was enough water over the cill. Another chance for a gossip (hence no pictures, too busy yakking)
