Planned Route
As always, routes are subject to change - not least due to the current Foot and Mouth outbreak, which means most navigations/canals/rivers are currently closed.
The route is anticlockwise in nature, starting from Oxford.
The intention is to travel down the Thames to London and after
spending some time there, travel northwards on the eastern side,
hopefully visiting Cambridge and Bedford via Peterborough and the
Middle Level.
After that, we intend to travel northwards, as far as York, with
a probable detour to Boston, and possibly the Chesterfield Canal.
At 62ft5ins B-Hive is too long for the Leeds and Liverpool Canal,
so we shall have to come back up the Trent, and across the
country via the Trent and Mersey canal.
Hopefully we will be able to see and use the Anderton Lift -
which is supposed to reopen during September, and also possibly
travel the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, which is also due to reopen
this year.
Other places which are on the list as possibles include Chester,
Llangollen, the Caldon Canal, and anywhere else that looks
interesting.
